This genre doesn’t take itself too seriously, which helps it reach more viewers by balancing fear and comedy.

2.A perfect example of horror-comedy is the famous "Wassup" scene from Scary Movie 1. In this part, a group of characters copies the well-known Budweiser commercial by yelling "Wassup!" to each other while chatting on the phone. The humor comes from how over-the-top and silly the scene is, turning a scary situation (where one character is being followed by a killer) into something hilariously ridiculous. It shows how Scary Movie makes fun of horror clichés by adding laughs to moments that would usually be really tense.

Another example is the scene where Malcolm ignores the ghost in A Haunted House is a perfect example of horror-comedy because it mixes scary elements with funny moments in a surprising way. In this part, Malcolm hears strange sounds and watches furniture move by itself, which are obvious signs of a ghost.
